JPEG vs RAW on Pentax *istD

These shots (100% crops) were taken at 800 ISO, 1/45s, f/4.0, 24mm lens, handheld. Tripod would have been more scientific but I want to see more real world performance, especially in low light with high ISOs. One is JPEG, the other two are raw converted with Pixmantec rawshooter and Picasa2. All were colour corrected manually but no other processing.

There is quite a difference in the light levels of the two raw programs.

The second JPEG has been colour corrected in post processing, and I think it really shows how this is not a good think to do. If you want to shoot in JPEG you really need to get the white balance right at the time.

The original file sizes were 2.3MB for jpeg and 13.2MB for raw.
